Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Real-time updates features text commentary for the weekend matchups on various channels, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (from 14:00 BST). Also, audio coverage is available on designated networks for another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).
It's week six in the NFL season and after last week's talk regarding two top teams being possible championship contenders, they both surrendered their unbeaten records.
Striking in those games were the number of infractions both conceded. The Eagles committed them in key moments so they essentially defeated themselves having led 17-3 going into the final quarter against Denver, set to play overseas this Sunday.
However it proved good to observe that Denver quarterback Bo Nix managed to have the shortfall and then direct three scoring drives in three attempts during the final period, securing the victory by four points.
The Broncos have the top defender with cornerback their star corner. They rank number one in red zone defence, whereas Philadelphia lead the league in scoring near the end zone, yet Denver prevailed in that battle.
They executed the Eagles' number in terms of simulated pressure. They did not always sending more than four pass rushers instead they might position two linebackers in the 'A' gap then withdrawing them and send a slot defender off the edge.
Early on of the season, we said on a program how Denver might emerge as this season's surprise contenders. They ended the previous year well and excelled of building upon that.
Could Denver be this year's underdog story?
Recently acquired tight end their tight end has excelled significantly while recent running back JK Dobbins is a guy they believe in. He's currently 5th in the NFL in ground gains (over 400) as well as tied-fourth in rushing scores (four).
I love how the coach Sean Payton displays "RUN IT!" prominently on his call sheet.
That shows how the Broncos represent a squad aiming to prioritize the run, because one can achieve much off the back of that. It reduces down the pass rush and keeps you in positive down and distances.
This has benefited quarterback Bo Nix, who entered the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, passing for 29 touchdown passes – second only to a star QB for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert have powerful arms to pass anywhere, however they don't move in the same way that Nix has. He has incredible passing ability, which is different, and he is so athletic.
His strengths are his movement, the capacity to throw while moving, as well as finding varied release points to deliver the pass as he moves outside protection, the bootlegs. He can deliver that layered pass over the middle or over the corner.
For a young quarterback, aged 25, he's got a lot of composure in the pocket and is not really fazed by the blitz. He tries to avoid being tackled whenever possible and is able throw in tight spots. He possesses sharp intelligence and remains quick to decide.
When you constantly rush it eats up time and makes the defence to stay in play for longer, and when you've got a mobile QB the defence must defend the field downfield side to side. This proves exhausting.
Nix has bitten back at Payton during games sometimes and it seems Payton appreciates that fire, seeing him as such a competitor. In my view it's exciting for him to have a rookie QB who's kind of like moldable clay. He can truly develop him how he desires to shape him. I think it's a unique opportunity for him.
The head coach has won a championship and has surpassed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen everything. In my opinion the success Denver are having offensively is largely down to his guidance, his schemes, his game sense – and the pairing with Nix aids make him what he is.
There's no better a more qualified person in your ear, to help you during some of the tougher situations and build self-belief.
I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But is the team strong enough to face a top squad at full strength? Because that wasn't a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia in their last game.
Currently, it's unlikely Denver are elite. They're performing better than most, that's a good place to hold the AFC West. All they need is is maintain this path.
They excel at embracing their forte, which is running the ball, and this is precisely what they must do against the New York Jets in London. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.
New York have allowed 140 rushing yards per game (among the worst), five ground scores this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the sole squad yet to win a game.
Ever since the league began tracking takeaways decades ago, the Jets are also the inaugural squad to go without any turnovers in five outings, which is surprising considering that their new coach was previously a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.
Patrick Mahomes stated the Chiefs are off to a poor start after a recent loss to Jacksonville.
After this Sunday's game, the Broncos have a smooth-ish schedule up to their bye (in week twelve) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans plus the Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.
Looking at the AFC West, the Chiefs are 2-3 while Denver are tied with the Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could challenge for the top of the division.
This hinges upon which form Kansas City shows up they meet because Denver {beat|def
