Unbowed Celtic's manager insists he is not worried about being fired yet the Parkhead faithful unleash anger after derby defeat.

The Celtic boss stated he was not afraid of losing his job, maintaining, “The team is extremely close to things turning around,” even after edging perilously close to being fired with a convincing setback against their arch-rivals.

Another Collapse Sees Derby Loss

Celtic had led Rangers at the break but a collapse after the break allowed Danny Röhl’s team to pull level on points with the defending league title holders. Nancy, who was brought in from Columbus Crew, has now been in charge for six setbacks in eight fixtures.

“The board and I are united with the board,” said Nancy.

Asked directly about his own future, he replied: “That’s not my focus. I think about working out methods to aid my players to improve on details.

The coach remains focused on the fact the side can perform strongly for one half at a time. In fact, if not for wastefulness in front of goal they could have been greater than 1-0 up. “The performance had merit aside from the fact that we didn't take our chances,” he said. “I acknowledge that we lost, but I must remain balanced.

“The level we had at certain moments was really, really, really high. That is a fact. I wouldn't talk like that if it was not the case. Therefore, regarding outcomes, I said we've seen this before. For that reason I said that we are really close to things turning around. Right now: small things.”

“We produced a lot of encouraging signs that we did, once more. The issue now is sustaining it. My message would change if it was not the case. This is why I am a big believer the team can to get back on track.”

Röhl’s Cautious Outlook

Danny Röhl refused to contemplate a serious challenge in spite of what felt like a statement victory. “We take it game by game, and we can develop a challenge,” he said. “The confidence in the team is excellent.”
