The skiing legend Assured of Being 'in prime form' for Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics

Alpine star Lindsey Vonn has declared she will be "perfectly prepared" for the upcoming Winter Olympics, after claiming a place on the rostrum for the fourth time in her last five World Cup events.

The 41-year-old, who recently made history by becoming the most senior racer to win a downhill World Cup winner, took the bronze position in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This represented her one hundred and forty-second career World Cup top-three result.

Impressive Performance in the French Alps

Racing in the French Alps resort for the first time in almost a decade, Vonn finished the course in a time of 1:20.60. She was just over a third of a second behind victor Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson securing the runner-up spot.

"I was slightly lacking enough direction on the initial jump," Vonn said. "Subsequently, I skied well. I'm pleased with my skiing today, in contrast to in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was overly cautious."

This result was her second top-three finish at Val d'Isere during the event, having also finished third in the downhill on Saturday.

A Remarkable Comeback from Retirement

Vonn officially retired in February 2019 due to ongoing knee problems. However, she made a stunning return in late 2024 following a major knee surgery.

With 47 days remaining until the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, which are scheduled for February 6th to the 22nd, Vonn's form are timely.

She already possesses one gold and two bronze medals in her collection and is firmly on track to compete for the United States at the 2026 Games.

"When we get to Cortina, I will be in a good place," the athlete confirmed.

Aiming for Further Glory

Alongside her Olympic ambitions, Vonn is also aiming to increase the four overall crystal globes she has won over a professional journey spanning two decades.

She currently holds a substantial lead at the summit of the downhill World Cup rankings and is sitting in fifth place in the super-G World Cup table.

This current World Cup circuit features a nine more events taking place before the season finals in Kvitfjell, Norway on March 21st, 2026.
