Law enforcement have published shocking video depicting a driver performing risky drifting maneuvers around a traffic circle during an illegal car meet, placing watching crowds at serious danger of harm.
A 23-year-old from the local area was given a 27-week prison sentence, suspended for one year, after pleading guilty to reckless operation of a vehicle.
In addition, the judge imposed a 12-month driving ban and ordered community service along with a behavioral course.
According to authorities, the video was captured at an illegal car meet in Portsmouth on 28 December 2024, showing the individual driving a distinctive colored vehicle.
“The video demonstrates the shocking moment when a dangerous motorist skidded around a roundabout at an unauthorized car meet, as spectators watched ignoring the danger of serious injury.”
Police representatives reported that over two hundred violations involving unauthorized vehicle events in the area have been handled in approximately 12 months.
Notable figures from the enforcement effort comprise:
A police sergeant remarked: “Local people, motorists and our roads policing teams have had their fill with these crowds of drivers thoughtlessly taking over public roads and car parks and we refuse to accept it.”
He added: “These events are not only a total disturbance, but they also place participants and uninvolved individuals at risk of severe harm.”
The statement concluded: “We will continue to take legal action against these drivers and I trust these latest incidents serve as a warning: you will face consequences.”
