Cowboys player Marshawn Kneeland has passed away aged 24.
The Cowboys selected the Cowboys in the second round in the 2024 NFL Draft and played 18 times for the team, with four starting appearances.
He scored his first touchdown in Tuesday's defeat to the Arizona Cardinals when he retrieved a blocked punt.
"He was a cherished team member and part of our family," the Dallas Cowboys said.
"We send our condolences regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his loved ones."
Kneeland was selected by Dallas with the 56th selection of the 2024 draft after his college career for Western Michigan.
His agent, Jonathan Perzley, said his "heart aches" for the loss of the athlete who "poured his heart" into each opportunity.
"I watched him fight his way from a hopeful kid at Western Michigan with a dream to being a esteemed pro for the Dallas Cowboys," Perzley said.
The NFL said it is "profoundly grieved" by the tragic event.
